Have a 'Frozen' moment and let it go

Does it feel like some aspect of your life is taking you hostage?  Something that as soon as you wake up it’s the first thing you think about and then it keeps coming into your mind all day long?  Perhaps it’s an unpleasant person – possibly even a bully.  Perhaps a conversation that you know you have to have but you really don’t want to.  Perhaps it’s an illness or disease?  Perhaps one of your children is soon to leave home and you don’t want them to?  Whatever it is, these things can loom large in our lives and often they are things that are out of our control, things that are happening TO us.  And it can feel like there’s nothing we can do about it.  If we wake up in the middle of the night, it is the thoughts about this thing that swirl around in our heads, stopping us from getting back to sleep. 

And just because it’s out of our control, happening TO us or AROUND us, these things are still real and genuine concerns because they AFFECT us, or those we love.  BUT if we can’t think about anything else and constantly feel worried, anxious or worse, then the THING, the situation, is in control of us.  If every waking moment is consumed by this thing (whatever it is) then our lives are no longer our own to be lived in the way we want. 

If you are experiencing a situation in your life like this remember that your life is BIGGER than this thing.  Your situation is not ALL of your life – it feels that way because thoughts about your situation fill your mind so much of the time – but in truth your life is SO MUCH more than this situation.  So now is the time to take action – it will give your mind other things to think about – it will remind your mind that there are other things in your life too.  Where you can, make those actions one of two things: either things that you enjoy and that can help you think and feel good. OR make those actions everything that you can possibly do about your situation – or if you can’t do it yourself, encourage others who can, to take action for you. 

Don’t let this thing ‘win’ by controlling your mind – allow yourself to think and feel all the other things that make your life good.
