Oh the times, they are a-changing

Dec 06, 2024

I heard recently that the next generations are being motivated in very different ways to our current generations.  It’s a really exciting time in our modern social history – these new generations are growing up always knowing Alexa and Sirri and all the voice technology and Artificial Intelligence.  Things that for me were the stuff of SciFi shows and movies when I was a child.  And when I think about all the advances that have been made in my lifetime I’m left feeling dazzled by the amazing things that humans can achieve.  So what will our future generations be motivated by?  Hopefully they’ll have learnt from our mistakes, learnt that money earned can easily be lost and that money can become hard earned during economic downturns.  But hopefully they’ll enjoy themselves and this growing trend of experiencing life and all it has to offer will be at the forefront of their minds, as predictions indicate.

Sometimes we face challenges, but even in those tough times when it really can seem like nothing is going well and all the news is bad, look around you and you will find things to be grateful for.  Sometimes they’re really small things and sometimes they won’t seem like they’re enough to outweigh the bad, but remember that saying: ‘this too will pass’ and it will. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, it will.  So help it pass:  Go in search of a better experience, something or someone that can help you lift your spirits.

And so I think perhaps we could all start taking a leaf out that book that’s yet to be written about experiences.  Let’s make sure we make the most of as many moments as we can while we’re here.  Let’s not wait to be happy, or wait to do things that make us happy, let’s be with the people we care about.  Let’s do it now!

A friend of mine once told me: Don’t have a donkey in your cupboard.  What she meant, was don’t miss any opportunities that come your way.  Don’t leave things that you want to do undone.
